Ferrite Impeder Rod are used for concentration of magnetic flux in high frequency, RF, induction welding of steel tubes and pipes. In this application ferrite core experiences temperature and the core properties must be optimized for this environment. Properties which influences the efficiency and the speed of the process are :

  • A high permeability (p) material to ensure high degree of magnetic flux concentration.
  • A high Saturation flux density Bs, at the working temperature, which determines, the maximum field in which the ferrite core can usually perform.
  • A high curie temperature at which the material ceased to concentrate magnetic flux, due to loss of ferrimagnetic properties.

For these applications, special ferrite materials are offered - They are having following excellent physical properties.

(a) High Curie temperature and a low temperature dependence of the initial permeability and of magnetic flux density in the working temperature range.

(b) A high saturation flux density in the working temperature range upto150 °C.

(c) Low losses with increase of temperature.

(d) A relative high amplitude permeability.

(e) A high stability of the initial permeability vs. frequency upto 1 MHz.

Following four types of Impeder Core are produced and supplied:

1. Solid Plain Core - P

2. Solid Fluted Core - F

3. Hollow Plain Core - PH

4. Hollow Fluted Core - FH

The overall straightness of Impeder Core is excellent and is controlled by passing it through a 200 mm long gauge with an inner diameter equal to, nominal outer diameter of the Core plus 1.0 mm.

All types of Impeder Core are supplied in a nominal length, equal to 200 + 5mm.

Applications:
Primitive Compasses, Diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride, Impeder Coolant Systems, High Frequency Welding of Tubes and Pipes etc.

Hard Ferrite

The largest volume of industrial permanent magnet materials is of the ferromagnetic oxides, one of which is magnetic cera; lie material known as Hard Ferrite. This material is distinguished by its high coercivity, which is an important parameter which indicates the material's magnetic hardness, and exceeds the value of 12.5 Oe, (IkA/m). Soft magnetic materials, such as Soft Ferrites, for example have coercivities of only a few (A/m) - Oe. The high coercivity such as (250 A/m) - 4000 Oe permits magnets of short magnetic lengths, to be used without excessive self demagnetisation. The high electrical resistivity, of the order of lO^Qm minimizes eddy current losses and thus makes Hard Ferrite an ideal material for high frequency applications.
Low permeability, 1 to 2, of the material helps one to generate multi-poles on the surface of magnetic body. Even complicated magnetic patterns can be formed with ease.
Hard Ferrite is a ceramic material which is hard and brittle and close dimensional tolerances can only be achieved by grinding.

Iron Dust Core

The basic raw materials for Iron Dust Core are a high purity electrolytic iron or iron alloy, in powder form. Conventional powder compacting technology is used in compacting core bodies. Function of material is to absorb noise emitted from electronics or electrical devices and also acts as a choke body. As compared to soft ferrites, these cores have higher saturation flux density, high curie temperature, excellent DC biasing characteristics. Almost all core bodies are produced in various sizes of toroids, having close magnetic circuit, making low leakage of magnetic flux. Core bodies are coated with epoxy resin, making core bodies resistant to humidity and high surface electrical resistance.

Main Features:

1. They maintain high saturation flux density and can be used with large currents.

2. Toroids - limits hum and magnetic flux leakages.

3.Their temperature characteristics are excellent and exhibit linearity.'

4.Suitable as choke coils for preventing noise in switching power sources.

5. Excellent noise suppression performance particularly very suitable where noise is emitted from the circuits in which thyristers are used.

Applications:

Compacting Core Bodies
